Classical Climbing aims to be done in the traditional alpine way, that is, to climb a route through which the first of the rope installs the locks, either in natural anchorages (trees, rock bridges, rock points) or in artificial anchorages recoverable (nails, embedded knots, fissures, friends, etc.

Classic climbing bindings are generally installed in crevices, such as friends, fissures, pitons, although locks are occasionally placed that offer better guarantees mainly for allowing a multi-directional tradition: self-drilling expansion studs, popularly known as SPITS.
